Summer Leaves & Lovehearts by Brandon H 6KR

Sequel to “iceshadows & lovehearts”
Summer leaves & lovehearts (or iceshadows & lovehearts part 2)

Karl felt a sudden pounding, an urge, non-instinctively; he swept her off of her feet.

Karl felt exhilarated; he bowed his head down close to her face, slowly bending closer, closer...

Suddenly, the trees started to give off an uncontrollable heat; cars de-iced, snow evaporated, the sun blazed and leaves grew lush green on the trees.

The girl herself had changed; wearing a corset made from tendered leaves and a skirt with golden lacing.

ABBA was playing in Karl’s head:

Honey, honey,
How you thrill me,
Uh huh,
Honey, honey...

Before he knew it, he was singing it out loud!

He slowly picked up where he left off, his lips met hers…

Anyway, let’s get away from that icky, sickly part and back to the more important parts of this romance.

It used to be law in the land of eternal winter that love between warm blooded people and season shifters was forbidden, but it may still be law.

The Gift Bringer by Brandon H 6KR

A novelisation of “the gift bringer”, based on the nativity by years 3, 4 & 5

IN A SMALL VILLAGE THERE LIVED A WOMAN CALLED BABUSHKA, she was dressed in a snow-white shawl and a tatty, burnt umber frock.

BABUSHKA OWNED THE TIDIEST HOUSE IN THE VILLAGE, she frequently checks to see if it was spic and span nearly every two minutes!

MONDAY WAS A MOPPING DAY, Tuesday a dusting day, Wednesday a “changing” day (this day she changed the appearance of her hut), Thursday a brushing day, Friday an exterminating day (where she either tidied dead bugs or killed them), Saturday was a scrubbing day and on Sunday she finally rested.

AS DAY DIMMED, the people of the village were surprised to see that light was billowing in from the east, on the road to Bethlehem.

“LOOK! THE STAR!” Cried a child, “Look at those figures silhouetted against the light! They’re heading this way!”

“LOOK AT THEIR HEADS! THEY’RE ALL SPIKY AND SHIMMERING! THEY MUST BE KINGS!”

INDEED THEY WERE, as the figures approached, long, scarlet robes with golden lining were revealed.

THE KINGS CRASHED AT BABUSHKA’S HOUSE FOR THE NIGHT, the next day, Babushka hesitated before scooping up a couple of toys in a wicker basket and traveling with them.

THE KINGS AND BABUSHKA CAME TO A STABLE IN THE VILLAGE OF BETHLEHEM, inside were three wise men, half a dozen shepherds, a girl all in baby blue, a stout man dressed like a shepherd and a spotless baby in a manger.

THE BABY WAS CALLED JESUS, Mary, the baby blue girl said he was Jesus and that he was god’s son, a king among men.

Iceshadows and Lovehearts by Brandon H 6KR

Iceshadows & lovehearts

Surely the ice realm can’t feel the incredibly overwhelming power of love, even if they are face to face with a witty, beautiful person.
But if you think so, you’re wrong.

We humans can’t always understand that we need to take a sense of wonder of the world around us, and understand why, and what it holds in store for us.

Esmeralda was an ice girl; her mother never felt love, neither did her grandmother, her great grandmother, her auntie, no relation of hers had ever felt the sensual, romantic feeling of love.

This is the tale of how the first ever ice person that ever fell in love, went head over heels for a seventeen year old called Karl Cunningham.

As Karl was trudging home in the thick, bleach white snow, he stopped.

The snow in front of him built itself up, until it was a very detailed ice sculpture.

The features magically carved themselves into life, the icy hair began to shimmer with a golden glimmer; Karl was gob smacked as the hair started to tumble over the figure’s shoulders.

Up until now, Karl had only been focusing on the hair, as he shook himself; he noticed how humanly she looked.

It was like the description of “Snow White” without hair as black as ebony.

Karl felt a sudden pounding, an urge, non-instinctively; he swept her off of her feet.

"Christmas" by Connor MS, Age 10, Class 6KR

**********************

Christmas

Carol singers outside your door.
Heritages for the town.
Racing down slopes will make you sore .
I will be happy and not let down.
Santa will come to your house.
Toys for every girl and boy.
Merry Christmas, but be quiet as a mouse.
As good as you are, don't annoy.
Some toys will come, so please be good,
but still Christmas is in your blood.

"The Night Before Christmas" (rewritten) by Georgia B, Age 10 Class 6KR

.............................................

The Night Before Christmas (re-written)

It was the night before Christmas, and all you could hear
Was little children saying "Christmas is nearly here."
"Time to go to bed, now children," says the maid of the house.
Everyone is asleep now, not even a sound from a mouse
The children hung their stockings by the open fire,
The one who had the biggest was little Kiya
A clattering I heard, on top of the roof,
Its Santa! and I heard a hoof
glide across my house top,
but on the centre of my roof I heard it stop.
Then I heard a thump, down the chimney he came
This routine was always the same.
I raced down stairs, I saw him come
It was Santa! It was him! It was the real one!
He filled all the stockings, three toys in each,
Each stocking so low, even little Kiya could reach.
Then he turned on his heel, up the chimney he went,
Taking with him, the card that I sent
Then just before I turned out the light,
I heard 'someone' say "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night"

"Christmas Poem" by Connor MS, Age 10, Class 6KR

********************
Christmas Poem

Snow is here and Christmas same
when this is here, summer is lame.
With mistletoe and presents
and the family is pleasant.

Baking cookies for St Nick
which one will he pick?
Christmas is full of joy
for each girl and boy.

In the season there will be sport
But when they win, prezzies will be brought.
But for all those helpful men
hot cocoa on their table, inside their den.

For presents, the shops are full
and these gifts, the remainders will pull.
In the middle of the night, there be a clatter
But no worries mum, there is no matter
for it is only Santa.
